Among the most important museums of Florence we suggest:

Galleria degli Uffizi: one of the museums most famous in the world for its extraordinay collection of paintings and statues. The paintings of XIV century and Reanissance show some masterpieces of art at any times. The Gallery is situated on the last floor in the Uffizi Palace built between 1560 and 1580 by Giorgio Vasari as the Tuscan administration's head office.

Galleria dell'Accademia: in the gallery are exhibited some of the most famous sculptures of Michelangelo: the 'Prigioni', the 'San Matteo' and above all the great 'David' carried here in 1873 and for which was built the amazing gallery.

Palazzo Pitti:  the Pitti Palace, which was formerly the residence of the grand-dukes of Tuscany and later of the King of Italy, now houses several important collections of paintings and sculpture, works of art, porcelain and a costume gallery, besides providing a magnificently decorated historical setting which extends to the Boboli Gardens, one of the earliest Italian gardens famous also for its fountains and grottoes.

Museo del Bargello: the Museum has a remarkable collection of sculpture and works of art. It occupies an impressive building built for the Capitano del Popolo in the mid-13th century, which later became the seat of the Podestà and Council of Justice. Since 1865 the palazzo houses the National Museum, bringing together many important Renaissance sculptures, including masterpieces by Donatello, Luca della Robbia, Verrocchio, Michelangelo and Cellini.

Museo delle Cappelle Medicee: The Museum is incorporated in the vast complex of the basilica of San Lorenzo which, being the parish church of the Medici family, was particularly richly decorated. It is here that members of the family were buried from the mid-15th century onwards.
The Museum is especially famous for the New Sacristy which Michelangelo designed for the tombs of Lorenzo and Giuliano de' Medici, creating one of the masterpieces of architecture and sculpture of the Italian Renaissance.
